Steps for Ordering a Steer

1. Click on Contact Us – Feel free to call, send a note via the website or send us an email to indicate your interest. Please indicate if you are interested in a whole steer or a portion of a steer (0.25, 0.5 or 0.75).

2. As indicated in About, it takes about 2 years for a steer to mature, and we process only a few cattle a year so our quantities are very limited. So, once you contact us, we will let you know where our cattle are in the maturation process and the current status of the order list. Based on these two factors and your portion of interest, we will provide you an approximate date for when your steer could be delivered to the slaughterhouse and an approximate date the slaughterhouse will complete the processing.

3. If you decide to move forward, a $50 deposit will be required to secure your order. Upon a receipt of the deposit, you will be sent a confirmation email that will provide you an updated date for when your steer could be delivered to the slaughterhouse and an updated date on when the slaughterhouse will complete the processing.

4. Once the steer is delivered to the slaughterhouse, you will notified by email of the steer’s hanging weight and the total cost. The email will also have an attachment that you will need to complete for the Slaughterhouse to use in processing. You will have approximately 2 weeks to complete the form and return them to Pritcher Farms. During these 2 weeks, we will provide assistance in completing the form and facilitate communications with the slaughterhouse to answer any questions that you may have about the various cuts of beef.

5. Once the aging process is complete (~21 days), the slaughterhouse will process, package and freeze the cuts of beef. You will be notified upon completion of the packaging and when you can pick up your beef. If you cannot pickup your cuts on that date, Pritcher Farms will assist in making alternate arrangements. Final payment to Pritcher Farms will be due at or prior to slaughterhouse pickup. Remember, slaughterhouse fees will be separate and will be due at pickup.

6. Enjoy!
